My Austin Cooper is 1355362. It has the bigger rear bulkhead hole, MK3 style boot lid, MK3 front panel and is Flame Red. It was first registered 14 October 1969 by the BMC Sales and Service division.

Will you elaborate on that last bit Foxy because I think I might 'suggest' to the MCR Mk2 Cooper and S registrars if they'd like to continue this quest. Interesting to see when the Mk3 colours started to come on stream and from that, approx how many Mk2's came in Mk3 colours.

Peter I have just been in conversation with Nick this week with info on Mk3 colours on Mk2s and he has written a piece for the magazine. What we did wonder were the 850 and 998 delux models painted in Mk3 colours but fitted with Mk2 interior colours. For instance has anyone ever seen a Mk2 in Blue Royale with a Cumulus Grey interior.

foxy If you look at my earlier post you will see the 5 MK3 colours which were initially available, hence why some Mk3 colours, Bedouin, Blaze and Teal come to mind, are not found on the Mk2.

And another late mk.2 (S), 3rd from last mk.2 according to the ad, reimported (from Indonesia if I see it correctly): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1970-Mini-Coo ... 0012.m1985

Claim: "It was originally built for export with left hand drive "
But the identification number doesn't include "L" for left hand drive. I would expect KA2S6L/
