Wasn't 407 ARX the car that got 'help' from the BBC via Top Gear in restoration?

I thought it was the BBC that got all frosty about it, not the car clubs per sae because they felt they had been mislead about the car.

I know it was never featured on the the show in its restored state, which is a shame because whoever did it made a good job of it whatever they started with.

The pre-restoration TV piece stated that the car in front of the cameras was the original so maybe they had a point, maybe they did not want to present the true situation or maybe their research was less than complete.

Lovely isn't it? It's no more or less 'real' that 80% of these and keeps the spirit of these cars alive.

Yep, regardless of any issues over it's ID, the car itself looked fantastic!

There's a thread about '407' on Pistonheads where the son of a previous owner of the original car expresses his opinions on it!

fricking 407ARX

I part numbered this up front bumper to back bumper when Topgear where sorting out the restoration of it, it took weeks to do the quote, in the end they fecked around so much, wanting phone conferences and 'blue sky meetings' we told them to boil their heads and told them we didn't want to get involved in it due to the hassle.

Just to be clear, John was commissioned to undertake a "restoration" on this car by the owner / Top Gear, he was NOT involved in any sort of resurrection himself.

yes before it starts a bun fight, last thing I want to do is that, John and his team made a cracking job of the car, as has been reported
