Just a thought. Has anyone ever fitted 165 tyres on 3.5 S wheels? If so I'm interested to know how it work out.

I have not personally done that, but I have replaced 3.5" rims for 4.5" using the same 145 tyres and the improvement in steering input and road holding was very pleasing so i can only imagine a wide tyre on a narrow rim would be the complete opposite.

Abs is correct. Tyre walls 'squeezed' in makes for lots of lateral roll

Just noticed this car from FB. Looks like 165 on 3.5 S wheel. The look is quite nice!

Very quick non technical response to Vegard (PM sent Vegard.....) think like this. You are more stable stood on top of a rectangular box than stood on top of a slightly flat topped pyramid. It is basic physics. And if you subject that triangle to any lateral loading...........watch out - especially if it's got flexible walls or sides!

Did'nt Goodyear bring out a 195 rally special in 13" for the escort rally boys early 70's, and lots of Escortiers were puting them on their 5"- 51/2" wheels
to make them handle (roll) like 50's Cadillacs.

They look like 5.20 - 10 CR65 crossplies not 165 radials.

They could of course be R7s.

It is however NOT something I'd do.
