A “1071 S”- in a mk4 shell with no engine or box.
Ten grand!!
I messaged the seller and commenting on the fact that it was not a mk3 shell and what parts were 1965.
His/her answer
"Hello there. Im saying mk 3 as its not a mk1/mk2
There is 65 paperwork which has been with car last 7 years. We know whats thats worth ? If there was more of original car it would not be 10k. Thx"

So there's your answer. The paperwork says it's a 65. Must have been a special model. I'd give it a ringing endorsement.

Serious question-if someone did buy the 1071 ringer and put all the correct bits in a fully restored mk1 shell, who in their right mind would pay seriously big money for something that has no provenance?
Would it sell?

Here’s another-“1964 Cooper S original replica”
What does that mean???
It’s a nice car by the looks of it,but it isn’t 1964 or a Cooper S-has a buy it now of nearly 17 grand!!

You could always buy some provenance from Rolex Bob

Seriously, it will sell, it just wont be as desirable.....

I asked the seller what 1964 parts remain on the car-he insists that it’s the original shell with lots of heritage panels fitted!!!
It’s a really nice car to be fair,but it isn’t nearly 17 grand nice,and it certainly isn’t from 1964.

It is a nice car, would be a great every day driver.

If its an original shell, some one has gone to a lot of effort to fit a lot of later panels and parts to it.

.......are those Union Jack sticker things covering up indicator holes ?
