The advert shows what is wrong with Mini Show concours judging, it has nothing to do with originality, it is more about how polished the car is and the fit and finish (usually far better than original factory) has turned out during restoration. That car would loose a great deal of points if judged correctly. It started life as a left hand drive, thus the whole control aspect of the car is not original or not in its original place.

I was thinking exactly the same Stuart. How can it be (as concours states) 'as it left the factory' when its now RHD.

Wrong type of paint I'm sure, Mini's were never 2-packed. No doubting it looks better but.........

Just as well I'm not a judge........

By the way - Happy 4th birthday Stuart :o

After a bit of thought.......... It'd be a shame if we couldn't say, or were afraid to say what we thought Surfy. Whether I'm a new kid on the block or not. (Surf Blue, last post, previous page)

Nice Downton 295 head for someone.

Certainly right, I would be a bit concerned about the valve seats though, would certainly want to see them before parting with my cash.

Lots of new panels too. I'd be tempted at that to make a twin tanked Deep Bronze Green Army mini. Only bad bit that might cause a sharp intake of breath is the screen scuttle panel ends. Major surgery there I fear. Mind you, probably not for the body experts.

That & the general look of it. I've seen enough to recognise them. M

Mark- Re the Downton 12G295

So what do the numbers mean? 60? how much it has been skimmed? 25.5? chamber volume?

I assume Downton would have done some porting and polishing etc, did they also fit bigger valves?

Realistically what sort of performance gains would there be over a standard 12G295?
