The Mk 1 has a nice LBL...D registration.

No Mk2 should be an E Reg as the car was not announced until October 1967, and by that time cars had an F Reg. Even the original BMC press cars were on F plates.

A quick look on the DVLA MoT checker explains everything, the Mk2 has obviously been imported in the last year and given an age related plate. Note that it is a left hooker.

AKX 298E
Tax due: 01 April 2018
MOT Expires: 11 April 2018
Vehicle make: AUSTIN
Date of first registration: April 2017
Year of manufacture: 1967
Cylinder capacity (cc): 1275 cc

PS The LBL Mk1 has not been taxed since 1994

The Mark 2 was probably built June/July 1967 as one of the very first batch. It looks lovely - I always preferred these to the Mark 1.

Why. on earth, do you prefer them to the Mk1?
Aren't worth as much?
Better rearwards view?
Less interesting interiors?
Fewer made?
Silver wheels?
Skinned boot lid?
More anonymous?
Short of looking at Parnell, I can't think of any more.

That advert with 2 cars a MK1 & a MK2, on the same advert is the most confusing one I have ever seen. I can't imagine for the life of me why anyone would do that!

Always preferred the Mark II. Neater grille and badges and the squares rear lights. Most pre '80 Minis are good but a red/black Mark II 'S' is the one for me.
