Mark has posted a Cars & Car Conversions Magazine article which has reminded me of why i went to the newsagent each month to get my CCC fix ..this one is from August 1967 .. this fantastic Journalist was Road Testing a 998 Cooper & a 1275 S.
Some quotes..
" If you carry the thing to its conclusion they can go Ruddy Fast to put it mildly"
" Dreadful Seats and still Poor Heating"
"You need to get the little old crankshaft fairly whizzing around"
" At around 500 miles to a pint was entirely reasonable"
"Ancachronistic unsyncronised botton gear which BMC is still amazingly and unforgivably foisting on the market"
"But like the man said Vot you expect for the money- my life"
" The engine is among the noisiest and roughest in current production"
The motor gets as rough as a bag of nails, False teeth will stay in"
"Even well built young women provide a spectacle which can be dangerously distracting"
"You don,t have to be Paddy Hopkirk - it just helps".

These are just a few lines that made me smile .. suggest that you Light Read this magazine article yourself.
