wasted so gloriously.

After restoring a set of MK1 Cosmics & then managing to find some vaguely 60's looking Dunlops to go on them, I couldn't wait to get them fitted yesterday evening.

WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!

Stuck them on, OK I knew they would stick out a bit, but I didn't expect them to look so duff

Bitterly disappointed, I pulled them off again & went back to Rosepetals.

Still, the inbox full of offers for them from Radford owners will take the sting out of it.

I'm sure you offered a compassionate ear, Rich.......

other than Minilites looking better again than petals on a Sprint what is wrong about the Cosmics?
They are perfectly period correct so what is it that looks odd about Mk1 Cosmics?

There is NOTHING "period incorrect", there were however a few "issues".

1) They stick out much further than I expected. About 1 1/2" at the front, but acceptable at the back. This is because they were originally made for Minis with drum brakes, I did anticipate this, and could have lived with it if it wasn't for the other points.

2) The tyres I chose for them are a classic 145-70/10 and the tyre profile is too high, so they hit the wheel arches at full lock, which none of the other tyre / wheel combos do.

3) They sort of look pasty against the grey paint work, makes the whole thing look grey, grey, grey.

4) And most importantly, I just don't like the look of them when fitted. i think the Minilites that were on it looked OK, and the Rosepetals look great. But the Cosmics in my opinion look disappointing.

Have to agree Mark, stick with the Rosepetals.
Black wheels don't need cleaning as much as silver :)
