Have to say, having watched it from the start, the last two series have been dreadful and a shadow of its former self. Worst thing they did was go over to USA. I vowed not to watch any other series before today's announcement; guess Ed felt the same.

The usual 'dumbing down' of a successful TV motoring programme for a wider audience, reduce costs and add in plenty of product placement, etc.......sadly the same thing happened to Mark Evans and 'The Car is Born' series a few years ago.

This was Mark Evans reply below to an email asking if he had thought about doing 'A Mini is Born'
"I have received loads of emails from fans of my Is Born shows asking what's next. Sadly, Discovery Real Time have said that its audience isn't after my kind of workshop series any more, so there are no new projects on the horizon. Really sorry. I would love to do more......

If you guys have suggestions for replacement shows I should watch please forward them!

I don't mind a bit of Bitchin Rides, they take their time, although people are still spending big money with them and they also spread bondo like it's going out of fashion the end results are often subtle and clean

Thanks for posting the link to the Ant Anstead video. At least now I know who the new mechanic will be.

I also agree that the shows shot over here were a disappointment. There were very few episodes that kept my attention. However, I enjoyed those better than Mike Brewer's effort: "Wheeler Dealers: Trading Up". I don't think I watched all of any single episode.

EDIT: Sorry, I was typing while you were typing. I haven't watched "Bitchin Rides". I never got interested based on the show name and the commercials. However, since you endorse it I'll be sure to watch an episode or two to see what it's like.

For anyone interested (& without too many scruples about copyright), "For the love of cars" is available to download from a well known Piratey torrent site.

I would have been happy to employ Edd, Fuzz or Aaron in my workshop, all seem to be very capable mechanics. It's the presenters who ruin these programmes.

Maybe "Ridin' Bitches" would have been more appealing?
