I've learnt so much on this site and probably spend more time on it than I should. Here are my suggestions:

1. One of the posts you shared with us Mark showed the wide international spread of visitors to the site. Maybe we can have a string of posts over time that cajole these people from the shadows. For instance "If you are from the Philippines please post a pic and some info on your car"
2. There has been some discussion about a loss of information as the personalities pass on. How about asking some of the remaining celebrities to post their recollections? Hopkirk, Aaltonen et al.
3. One point I have never agreed with the bulk of people on here about are 'what is it worth' discussions, or auctions. I have a bunch of nos inlet manifolds for instance, but have no idea which ones (if any) are sort after. I'd like to post pics here first asking for opinions, and the result may be that I then have a reasonable idea of what price to advertise them at (or bin them). But more likely, if someone needs the item, they would make a fair offer. When I get around to clearing out my junk, that alone would be a source of many posts :)

Thanks to everyone who posts, I am continually amazed by your work, your cars and your knowledge.

Regards,
Leon

Thanks for all the encouragement folks!

Looks like things aren't as quiet as I thought

When I have a spare few hours I will read through all the posts again & see if I can glean any ideas that are doable. sadly, my technical capacity to institute any major changes to the forum are limited (mainly by my ability  )

I do however want to run the forum how the members want it running.

Regards & thanks,

Mark

Any chance of an aftermarket seat directory Mark? I'm sure forum members own or have owned just about all of 'em. I'm happy to contribute pics and ads. :)

And a rocker cover directory?

Perhaps even a section for early mk3's (with oil leaks)

The seat & R/C archive are both cracking ideas.

If anyone could send pics of their aftermarket seats & rockercovers I'll get things moving.

M

I agree with everyone that this is the best Mini forum.

-And not just the forum, but the whole site, with all the information and history available.
I think Mark has done (and is doing) a great job.

I have looked at some other Mini forums but they don't impress me...

I like the idea of a 'Tech Tips' section.
This would be useful of bringing together information from the main body of the forum.

My suggestion:
Would there be any way of starting a "crowd-funding" type enterprise, where we could look at re-manufacture of certain un-obtainable parts? (I'm thinking practical stuff, not 333 gearbox casings...)
-I know that the Mini specialists (Mini Spares, Mini Machine, et al), are doing a great job to help keep all our cars going. But of course they are lead by 'normal' business profitability requirements.
-I know this is would not be straight-forward, to say the least!

-As we know, Mark does get some parts re-made, and sells them on here.
I'm wondering if that could be expanded?

As a Design Engineer, I would be happy to help out where I could.
-For example: producing 3D CAD models (maybe from old drawings) for use in CNC machining, or casting.

(By the way, I haven't read through all the pages of this post, so I'm not sure whether this has already been mentioned... )

Thanks for the interesting suggestions Andy.

The crowd funding of parts could be something to look into. The problem is that the economics of doing small runs can be very shaky indeed.
