I'm going to send my v5c off tomorrow to change the colour - I'll post up as and when I hear/get something.

Hopefully as has been mentioned, one change is not too much of a problem.

Thanks all,

Yes was on DVLA site, I think you are right the engine number and colour change must have been a bit much all at once!

I will get the photos done, send a covering letter and see what happens...

I will keep you posted!

Hi Andrew. Is your car still off the road? Did you just fill in section 7 and send it off, or did you put anything else in the envelope? Cheers.

Hi Richard,

Yes, it is still off the road at the moment. Filled in section 7 with the new colour, signed and dated it and stuck it in an envelope.

Cant see anything else is required :? We'll see

Cannot see you getting anything other than a V5 back Andrew .
Anything else then when you throw your 75 thread at them it's only ever going one way :D

Staple together any pages you send over to them, took me a few attempts to notify them of my engine swap as they kept losing the covering letter I had to invent from a garage to fit the different engine.

Just thought I'd update the thread that my new V5C came through with no problem following the colour change (which we presumed it would).

Any update on the OP ?

After a four week wait DVLA have written to me stating that as the car has an old v5 and hasn't been updated on their system it therefore needs to be inspected by SGS (whoever that is). It states this might be done at my home or if not possible i need to transport it somewhere. Has anyone ever had this ?. There's no mention of a fee but I'm sure there will be. Why can't i just send photo's of engine and chassis numbers ?.

The situation in your original question is not unusual and you have little to worry about. I returned only a photo of the registration number and chassis plate and was sent a V5.

I have also recently received a similar letter (for a different car) asking for photos of the chassis plate and engine number, without stating 'on the car'.The engine is,in fact, with SMMC and the body/chassis plate elsewhere. I do not anticipate a problem.

I always try to send in a little more information than asked for.
