 Post subject: Switch panel colour

Following on from a post on one of the FB pages I thought I would ask this question here as well, MK1 Coopers / Supers ect predominately seem to have grey switch panels, however I have come across genuine cars that are still in their original shells that appear to have been fitted with white switch panels from new, my argument has always been that as the cars were coming down the line would they have really stopped production because they ran out of grey ones, or would they have fitted a white panel and sent it out like that, no one was thinking in 50 years time this better be right.

It's not really a part that requires changing for any reason, yes I know that cars have had their I.D's swapped onto 850's ect so they may then have a white panel, I'm talking about cars with a traceable history that are known to be in their factory shells.
