This is certainly creating a bit of a stir - looks like it has some traceable history.

That's where they've got all the info I'm afraid. It was on eBay but they pulled it to update the info.

Some stuff here:

From what I can gather the FB page is just a big puff for an ebay auction. It's not an S it's a 998 Cooper.

Looks OK though.

I was a bit quick with the topic title so now altered.

I think it would make a nice car if cleaned up and recommissioned as is and if the race/rally history gives some story to it then even better.
Chances are it'll fetch strong money.

Discarded shell...  Some so called discarded shells have some honest heritage... .....the engine looks like a thick flange S block....bolted to an accumulation of parts....

Before 1983, and the introduction of the pre-fix style numbers plates, and the dreaded Q-plate, when a car was registered it was given a plate for the current year irrespective of age or heritage. Hence why a lot Innocenti Coopers had S, T, V, W or X registrations. Obviously this car was built up from the "discarded shell" and given an new number.
Apprantly the owner has found the original (a) chassis number and the car was originally a '64 Cooper (early Mk2 prototype!). Unfortunately they are probably never going to find out what the original identity was.

By the way, did you notice the tank vents.

Very similar to the ones on the VITA car at Shelsley
