Rich, there are two short on the pallet you are sending me. Possibly they came unstuck?

I have an Elder 8-port on my dyno donkey engine. It is running DTA fuel injection, it's sorted out and runs beautifully smooth, but sadly it's sitting in a corner waiting for me to get around to restoring the MK II tin wagon so it can be put to work. Check it out on my website: http://starchak.ca/8port/efi.htm

Anyone know what this engine is? Looks to be slightly Coventry Climax? Looks to be not on a Mini block.

There is a Twin Cam Mini engine here in NZ. Locally made by a clever engineer called Barry Algie. Sadly Barry died a couple of weeks ago from an accident when unloading his Holden Monaro race car from the trailer. Barry still had the moulds for the head but someone had dumped the ones for the front cover. It looked like a Jag head. I nearly bought it in a Mini De Joux back in 1981. Advert said Mini De Joux with Twin Cam engine and on the phone the seller said it was the twin cam version of the Mini engine as if they were quite common. We laughed and went around expecting the twin carb version - and there it was a twin cam Mini!

Graeme

(not sure the picture attached - it was the photo of the twin cam engine on the first page of this thread)

Isn't it the Gordon Allen twin cam? A custom made alloy block with a shortened Jaguar head.

If that is the "legendary" Gordon Allen TwinCam it is an amazing piece of work & is currently being restored by a forum member.

Thanks Tim and Mark.

Years ago I had one of Gordon's cranks in a Mini-Ford rallycross car. It was a piece of art!

I am sure I had a photo of the NZ Mini Twin Cam here somewhere. The creator was Barry R. Algie and he named it after his initials - which made it a bit hard to take seriously.
