I'm only answering this post to keep it near the top in the hope that more pics will emerge. I'm unashamed  .

I have such fond memories of the first time I saw V997. As has already been said, lots of people 'found' minis through that car (GH can f off btw).

The first 5 pictures at the start of this topic were taken by me in 1988 at Beaulieu Mini Cooper Register event.
I all so took then some now well known pictures from the Vortz Mini Coopers and LRX829E, I wish I had taken some more :(
The other picture was taken by me at a IMM some years later in the UK.

I've been searching through old mags for various reasons and Miniworld July 1996 has the detailed article on V 997 ( reg taken from 1922 Douglas motorbike, as suggested earlier ), along with a similar looking car, STS 66, which looks a fantastic car, and described in the article as a ' lookalike ' of V 997. anyone know of this car ??

Which one had the downton badged formula junior rocker cover?

It was that article in Mini World, that got me hooked on Mk1s. More particulalrly, it was while searching for details on rocker covers like that that I discovered Mk1 Performance Conversions. :D

To think, the bait that lured me into this trap wasn't even real bait!

Tim, click the link on my post on page 3 and scroll down to see the Mini World article (that you scanned on)!

:)

Same here, that car was probably the reason I got into 60's tuning parts and found Mk1, and the fact I used to see Mark flying around locally in his 1071 S!

The scans were done by Ted Wong and posted on one of the earlier iterations of the forum. Which means we're on at least the third go round of this conversation. :D
