Re: Downton V997
I know little about the car but what i have learnt is how polarising this car has been for the tuning set...I think its pretty special even if one of its custodians was colourful.
Thanks for the puctures..

Re: Downton V997
I don't think that V997 is in itself that "polarizing", there are very few people who don't think it is / was a lovely car.
It's just that it's former "Custodian / Owner" is a very polarizing character. Anyone who knew him or had any dealings with him knows that he was a lying rogue with a fantastic gift of the gab, anyone who was lucky enough not to have had any dealings with him can't see what all the fuss was about.
V997 was in it's time one of the very best early tuned Mini's in the country, it is however by modern standards in my opinion pretty average. (Apart from the beautiful seats!)

Re: Downton V997
I'm sure I remember this in an old mini magazine. I think it has a not-1275 engine. Big Su carbs with trumpets. I think it was an 1100. It had a door "pad" which was quite a nice touch.
I take it this Gregg chap is the sort of bloke who knows there is one born every minute and will say whatever it takes to get maximum money.
Sounds like Jason from Torquay.

I had heard that it had been sold, but TBH I have no idea one way or the other.
