Re: Avon Safety Wheels
Thanks All
It was seeing Robin111’s D1s he had restored inspired me to have a go! (Plus not wanting to spend £350 at the local wheel refurbishment place!)
As mentioned, on with the centre caps, does anyone have a good method of getting the original stickers off in one piece to be able to reuse?
Or
Would anyone be able to scan an original in and create new stickers?
TIA

Re: Avon Safety Wheels
First I'd try gently lifting it of with the help of a plastic spatula and mild assistance of a heat gun.colonel mustard wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 11:46 am Thanks All

but beforehand, take a high resolution photo

If you send me a high-res photo and the diameter of the sticker as a reference I can re-create it as a vector graphic for your local sticker manufacturer.

Titch Sanders is the man for scanning and re-producing your wheel centres. https://www.machinerydecals.co.uk/ and he is only just down the road from your Dads. Nothing is too much trouble for Titch. Give him a call Drew and mention my name.

Re: Avon Safety Wheels
Finally finished the wheels.
Ground and polished out the rust to the centre caps, a bit pitted but presentable also got some new centre cap stickers made (thanks Trevor)
Rather than applying a satin clear coat, which I think might fail, I have opted to apply a ceramic coating, only time will tell if this is any good!
Now to decide if to use them on the Cooper! (A little out of period but something different, marmite me thinks)
