Will it break the £200 barrier?

My guess is yes it will.

Yup, got that under my watching list, the same seller has some other nice bits for sale too.

There seem to be quite a few tasty bits on Ebay at the moment, new 1071 block, 1275 crank, NOS hydro unit...
It's that time of year again just before Christmas when stuff seems to come out of the woodwork.

Is there anything special about it, a throttle cables a throttle cable surely??

Or is its potential value purely on its rarity?

A throttle cable is indeed a throttle cable. But it has to be said the ST ones are indeed very good, the core is thicker but more flexible than a normal one, the liner is PTFE covered but, & this is what means its worth about £240 more than any other throttle cable its turquoise in colour.

Just the thing for your Works rebuild, or should that be log book job.

In all fairness I have never seen another throttle cable that is a good a quality as the original ST item, the modern ptfe lined ones are MUCH thinner.

Still not worth that much though.

They may be thinner, but you can replace them a lot of times for that price ;-)

Possibly worth it for a car with ST history, but as you say, it's a bit rich for most tastes.

Totally agree Simon,

However, having said that. When Rich & I were both racing Rich was using modern throttle cables & went through a real serious bought of busting them during races. I was using an old ST one (before I knew they were "worth" a shed load of money) and never had an issue.

Could just be luck, but I guess we will never know.

I use very expensice bicycle gear wires. These are teflon lined and the outer cover is very stiff. Perfect as Mini throttle cables.
