Intrigued by the way BMC stamped the three 22G333 gearbox casings.
Attaching three pictures of the different casings Y ...Q...and X......sure there is a reason for the difference in the location of the casting letters.
Explanation of each case.
Y.....rubber couplings...introduced on the 1275 cars
Q....hardy spicer joints
X....late 970 cars.
The X case is quite different with the lug that is sticking out at the front corner...doesn't seem to serve any purpose whatsoever!
Then again...maybe not!
Anyone have an explanation!
