Eoin Young, Autocar’s longest-standing contributor of the modern era, died 4th September in New Zealand, close to where he was born 75 years ago.
"A brilliant, self-taught journalist, he will be best remembered for his gossipy, fearlessly written column, Straight From The Grid (later simply From The Grid and then Eoin Young's Diary), that mainly discussed motorsport but covered all things motoring. His lunchtime interviews with famous people – which invoked the name of his favourite Surrey pub, the Barley Mow in East Horsley – were always packed with entertainment and insight."

Thanks for posting this Martin, really interesting and enjoyable read. I like Young's direct and fluff free style and funnily enough I did contact Bailey (who also worked for Don Moore incidentally) a few years ago with a view to an interview but didn't get round to it. Sounds like he's got some great stories!
Warwick Banks of course was one of our guests of honour at Blyton!
