Wheel box centers
I am restoring a mini jem, and going to fit the mark 1 wiper motor ,I need to drill the holes in the body as it had the later type wiper motor fitted and i have filled in the holes , I bought a wiper motor on its own ,then bought wheel boxes separate, I don't have the tubes, I am buying some stock tube and going to flare it, QUESTION , I need the distance between the wheel box centers as on the M1 Mini or the length of the middle tube, in fact the length of the 3 tubes would be handy
Thanks
Goff

Re: Wheel box centers
I think I have a MK1 wiper assembly not fitted to a car somewhere. I'm fairly sure the tubes are on it. It's just a case of finding it, so bear with me.

Re: Wheel box centers
No problem, glad to have helped.
The wheel boxes centre to centre is 315 mm or thereabouts.

Re: Wheel box centers
I know that this is an old thread, but thought that I would ask
my question here as it could be helpful to others to keep the
answers in the same place...
The information that I am looking for is the wiper rack tube
lengths for the LATER type assembly.
I am building a rear single wiper setup for a MiniMarcos and
would like to know what tube length options are available to
me without having to cut/join/re-flare...
Also, are all the ferrule threads the same? I've just got hold
of a motor from an Imp with a 105 degree sweep - The thread
for the tube union looks a bit small, but I am only guessing...

Re: Wheel box centers
That's great, thank's very much...
To summarise:I have just got hold of a motor said to be for a 105 degree sweep,
but the seller could not tell me which wheel box this would use. He
only said to "use the one you have already"...
I don't have one "already" as I am building something up from scratch.
Would it be correct to say that ALL Lucas 14W would have the 32 tooth
wheel boxes?
For the benefit of other custom builders, Stafford Vehicle Components Ltd
are listing 14W motor gears from 90 to 130 degrees. As at today, the
link would be:
http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/product/14w-wiper-drive-gear/
(... but this may obviously change...)
Ian
To summarise:
Code: Select all
Tube Lengths: Early Type Late Type
Motor to No1 Box 145mm 205mm
Between Boxes 268mm 412mm
Tail Stub 60mm 60mm
Wheel Box Teeth 22 32
but the seller could not tell me which wheel box this would use. He
