Not much of a contribution here but I do have a recollection that in the early development of the Auto, they did I think come up with a (prototype) 5 speed auto before the 4 speed.

before lockdown a chap walk his dog past my house most days.. seems that he was the Technical Director for AP ..involved in everything from mini transmission through to F1..hopefully when Boris lets us out to Play again.. i will have another chat to this man and continue the questions..

There was a past conversation i had with the Dog Walking ex AP Director .. where he told me that the Manager of the AP Development Workshop prepared and ran a "Cooper S Automatic" Rally Car .. have no idea regards what or when that Rally Car was happening .. must have a longer chat with him when Boris lets both him & me out to Play again
