I thought it a big disappointment .. g/f had one and we had a Renault GT Turbo and a Fiat Uno Turbo in the fleet, both of them just annihilated it

I had one in the 80s,a black MK1. Loved it but the Renault GT Turbo and Fiat Uno Turbos and 205 GTIs were so much faster. XR2s and XR3s had similar performance. Used to eat gearboxes though.

I traded mine in for a 2.0 litre Maestro. I had a thing for BL cars... Wish I had it now. Would love that white MK1.

Simply stunning in the rarest mk1 colour Arum white.
Easy to dismiss as overpriced but for the same price as a similair condition Sportspack which would you rather have?

My Dad bought one in 1986, an 18 month old B plate (pre facelift) Turbo in Cinnabar red. It was shite. Trim rattles and squeaks, and in 1988 it needed a new wing due to rust. Just after that was done it developed the 4th gear rattle, heralding the failure of the plastic cage in the mainshaft bearing. If BL had retained the A Series brass cage one, this wouldn't have happened.

It was OK in isolation but really, the standard MG was a better all rounder.

This is 1983 .. my friend replaced the 1965 cooper with a new metro turbo. I bought the cooper off him finally last year when he lost storage, I am currently restoring it.
It was pretty rubbish .. my played with mk2 with an 1100+ one of avonbar’s first 12G295 didn’t have much trouble keeping up
