A step too far ?

Post by Metronick »

Can't help thinking this could be a lot of 'alternative' fun with some ST tuning bits bolted on, set of D1's etc, or is it just rubbish ?

£5000 for an Allegro! No wonder we see Cooper S's advertised at 10 times that and more.
The Sweeney's doing ninety 'cos they've got the word to go...

Are they 'Mini like' to drive ?
I don't think I've ever heard anyone give any handling appraisal, there must be some Mini
DNA in there somewhere.

A friend of mine had an Allegro Estate, the ride in the rear seats was awful - very bouncy!

I'd find a garage space for that. Time has been quite kind to these and that one looks very straight. Not sure if I'd mod it or not.

my dad used to have an allegro back in the day, he bought it as a LHD and converted it to RHD

its the only car that I have ever got repeatedly and ruthlessly car sick in - it was horrific

it had a vinyl roof that someone slashed and as kids we used to peel bits off it, which drove my dad round the bend, it looked like it had leprosy

its only claim to fame is that its steering column ended up in that V8 powered red mini van
