where is my gun, I'm going to need it!

need a pair of discs for the sports coupe and hoping not to have to pay the £100 that earl part wants for them I bought a set on ebay that 'looked' right in the photo

they turn up and they are the thinner, smaller mk1 type. pants (if anyone needs a set of nos girling early discs though...)

so I buy a set that are listed as the later, bigger, diameter, mintex, but a generic picture

they turn up and before I even opened the box I knew they where wrong as they list 'Austin 1100' and 'various minis'. double pants

I know a disc that fits a mini wont fit my sloping calipers as all the spacing's are slightly off.

there are loads of people listing discs on ebay all that have no photo and the same generic description, so I bet loads of people get caught out.

the trick is to only buy them with a photo you can see that they have the castellated part

Brake parts are increasingly becoming a problem for the ADO16, exacerbated by an industry data base having some fundamental errors which sadly has worked its way to eBay.

I have been in direct contact with EBC and I have on-going discussions with Mintex to try and find a comprehensive way forwards, so far it's productive.

There's not much NOS floating about but EBC do for certain manufacture ADO16 brake discs for the swinging caliper and do have stock.....Part Number: D029

David, steering racks have also become very hard to find for our cars? Any news on them?

How much would you be looking for ?. Mine are ok but wouldn't mind a pair for when the time comes.

There's actually good news on the racks Alan, with two principle options: :D

a) Send it away for re-conditioning to: https://www.steering-racks.co.uk/ - I have spoken to these guys a number of times and they have even done a rack for me; they claim to have a stash of OEM bushes and also facility to manufacture their own should the need ever arise.

b) Nolathane in Australia sell a poly bush specifically for our cars - I have one fitted in my MG 1300, as do a number of other owners I know in ado16.info international. There's recemtly been a slight purchase problem for us in Europe in that the company has expanded their website and it detects where your IP address is, directing you away from the Australian site to the European site which does not list the part! So, one needs to email them directly :) : tech@redranger.com.au - and ask for part Number 41039 - it's on p102 of this catalogue: http://www.nolathane.com.au/brochure/No ... 10_web.pdf

Trying to get hold of 1800S disc's are also a problem they are very rare.
