You mention the use of 'S type block with the AEG479 EN40B nitrided crankshaft' but what about the AEG577 crank in the MG1300? I posted a question years ago as someone in NZ was selling a solid wall short motor that he reckoned had an EN40B crank. From the pictures I found the crank had the number AEG577 cast onto it.http://mk1-forum.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5769&p=40329#p40329
Thank you for your interest in this thread. Over 40 years I've seen a good number of ADO16 engines dismantled and noted everything which I still have to this day. The crankshafts I found in upmarket ADO16 1275 engines were:-
AEG479 EN40B (in the very first 1275 cars with the Cooper S block)
AEG480 EN40B (as above)
12G1287 EN16T with 1.625" diameter big ends
12G1288 EN16T with 1.625" diameter big engs
12G1683 EN16T with 1.75" diameter big ends (this is the tuftrided crank found in the MG, Riley Kestrel and Austin / Morris 1300 GT)
12G1505 EN16T with 1.75" diameter big ends (this was in the standard 1300 engines)
I've seen a AEG577 crank at my friend's garage and assumed it was Mini Cooper S?
If you find out anything further on this crank AEG 577 would appreciate knowing as we are trying to research all engines fitted to the ADO16 cars.
