Vegard is spot on about the Mk4 shell being a lot younger than the registration number. Not uncommon, at the time a lot of kit cars took the registration from the donor vehicle.

The earliest Mk4 would have been late '71 or early '72, just after Rob Walker took over Mini Marcos production.
