That's some garage, do you live in a rural location ?. I need a proper building, fed up with the limitations of domestic garages.

Rich, she is looking mighty nice.
Has Mark thought about claiming it back yet or does he want an mot on it?.
Have you registered in your name yet?
Looking forward to seeing her at some 1100 events, have you joined the 1100 club yet as I know they would like to see it.

Your next project?

Apparently this was an improvement over the 1100..............

Even so, I think time has been kind to the Aggro, particularly the 'clean' base models.

The Allegro, poor thing, is like an 1100 in a shellsuit. Huge styling potential cruelly compromised with that potato exterior hiding quite a brilliant little car.

They weren't brilliant!

Not bad, but they were 5 years behind the times and inherited the 1100's bad bits, namely the whining drop gears and pitchy ride. And utterly shocking build quality - they were really, really grim. Oddly, they were very well protected against rust and were about the last cars to fail an MOT on chassis rot.

Meanwhile over at Wolfsburg.............

Best small/medium car of that era was the Alfasud. Now that really was a brilliant design. If only Toyota built it.

It's nice to see an early Allegro though.

They handled well, everything else about Suds was terrible.
We had one in at work, first year of production, jacked up the off side front using the correct jacking point, owner decides to open driver door! OH SH1T. There is a huge bang and the windscreen jumps out and bounces off the bonnet, no one knows whether to laugh or cry. Then we notice the huge crease across the roof! No one is laughing now. We put wheel back on lower jack and door won’t shut. This car is scrap and only a couple of months old. Eventually after lots of arguing Fiat GB give owner a new car.

Fiat then issue jacking instructions to workshops.
Remove bonnet, place beam under subframe and attach 2 chains from above, use engine crane to raise car.
Brilliant design? I think not.
