I thought you said this car was rusty? There was barely anything to do :P Mind you, you've not shown us that stuffed in rear yet.

it was more rusty than we thought!

the rear is fixed, I bought a nos bumper lip and took the old one off, then portapacked the back panel until it matched the bend in the new lip - the boots fits, so it appears to have done the trick.

the n/s rear qtr needs some love, but its sortable

oh, small update

spent most of the day painting most of the suspension bits with that satin black chassis paint that I bought of ebay (the stuff that's brilliant!)

and redoing all the silvery zinc passivated stuff with a specially formulated zinc passivate spray that was expensive (or five wheel silver aerosol - take your pick!)

interestingly the displaces have a green dob of paint on them, so I wonder if normal pov spec cars got green bands and you could get silver bands for higher spec cars?

its just a car i bought about 10 years ago and paid for, I've probably got the receipt for it if I'm honest. Seller was supposed to deliver it but he never did and i forgot to chase it up.

I appreciate that does technically make me the legal owner of it but I'm not about to try and steal your car!!! Just shocked to see it still around. Seller told me it was crushed.

Green splodge is normal on displacers, my MG 1300 (1968) has green splodge...can't remember the other colours that appeared but the actual dispacer never changed.

The mushroom strut which is easily interchangeable, (you just need to have a strong grip, maybe with gloves, or use a vice) was originally galvanised steel and later became alloy, was available in different lengths due to the weight of the auto.

trying not to get outdone by vulgolors  I spent all day sanding the paint on the tango in preparation for standing looking at the mess of the rear qtr, hopefully I can sort that next week - my flatmate is a time served bodyshop bloke, who, whilst willing to offer advice from photos is most unwilling to actually come and fix it for me as its 'too much like work' booooo!

front subframe is all painted and built up

ordered some bits from earl part

lame update:- over!

To be fair, you're doing this properly with new bits and stuff. I'm just turbo-boost fixing stuff so I can get disappointed by failing an MoT that much sooner.
