It's a hybrid hydraulic/mechanical system.
The brake pedal work directly in in the master cylinder, with one outlet to the front and one to the rear. The rear slave cylinder is only a couple of feet back, and activates a crappy rod system (into which the handbrake ties in) which then operates the rear brakes. I think the rear brakes are self adjusting, but as they didn't work at all until the third pump for some feeble retardation, I stripped them off without much interest.

Ok. I've made a pedal box for my A35 van out of a metro one...

Is the back axle just a midget one?

I can remember working on one some years ago, and thinking "why did they do this" when I saw it, I was momentarily thinking "why" again with the thought of it on a race car, I assume you can use the A35 hydraulic system.

The back axle is an A30 one, but as the Frogeye and subsequent Midgets are just an A30 in a dress, they are essentially the same other than bracketry.

The rear brakes and handbrake get swapped for Midget ones, but that's aaaallll in the futuuuure....

Yes I have 1500 midget halfshafts and backplates on my van's standard axle.

Didnt know if you'd just swap the whole thing....

Stripped and ready to go off to ProStrip for dipping.
It took longer to remove the front windows and quarterlights from the doors than it did to get the engine and drivetrain out !

Totally agree with Mark, and look forward to seeing further Gertie's gallops.

Next test day should be the Silverstone Classic media day on the 23rd March, not sure if I will enter any of the Academy rounds between now and the Classic itself in July - that's down to my work schedule and the driver's availability.
