Poor old A40 - I haven't looked at it in months, but as I need the garage for working on the roofrack project for a wee while, the car got moved today out onto the drive and up on stands. It'll be a few weeks anyway before it gets back into the garage.

And with perfect timing, we are forecast a cold snap, so I drained the block as a precaution, and this got me to thinking "It'll pay me back for this!"

I wonder what it's revenge for its time out in the cold will be?????

Still, at least it still rolled....... :?

yeah, it's all become a bit 'glacial' hasn't it.

Might get back to it yet, but to be honest just had too much else on for the last year.

Down in the wallet, something stirred.....

Right, I've bought all the bushes and lowering blocks for something called a 'Rear axle' so I can fit some new 'Leaf springs' (?????) I have waiting.

Also bought a front anti roll bar as fitted to the Mk2. Unfortunately, this came with only one drop link fitted, so I need a new set. "No problem", you may think - Midget ones will fit.

Oh no, that would be obvious. Midget ones have a ball at each end, A40 ones have a bush at one end and a ball at the other, the ends of the (lightly wider) ARB being at 90 degrees to the Midget ones.

SERIOUSLY!?! dd the guy doing the A40 have Halitosis so no one spoke to him, and he designed what he thought he saw from his office window?????

Still, a web trawl found some Reliant Scimitar drop links which look about right, so I've ordered a set and will adapt, otherwise I'll make something out of rose-joints and top steady bushes!

Now all I have to do is bolt them on. And sort the wiring. and the interior.

Oh, and the owners club have had some front grille support panels made, which I need, but at £100 each that'll be getting made at work! (Not that this is probably expensive given the work involved in commissioning a run of them, but still, £100?!?)

Maybe over the Xmyth hols it might progress as the cold hard driveway looks so inviting.....

Surprised that midget/Sprite drop links are different....
